Jack Silvero, an accomplished architect and artist, is holding an exhibit titled “Works on Paper” at the Hope Library in May. Jack studied architecture at the Rhode Island School of Design and at the University of Pennsylvania, practicing residential architecture in Maine from 1979-2015. He has shown his art regularly at the Caldbeck Gallery in Rockland and at Studio 53 in Boothbay Harbor. The work on paper shown here involve geometric studies focused on proportions which utilize the Fibonacci Series or the Golden Ratio. Forms are often stacked or composed according to a series of diminishing proportions. The present work is done using watercolor or Flashe, a French sign painter’s vinyl paint, or in some cases handmade paper collage.
